The first episode, already available in streaming platforms, approaches the occurrence of gender-based violence in crisis scenarios or emergencies contexts, such as the pandemic of COVID-19

The UNFPA Brazil launched last week the podcast “Fala, UNFPA”, created to inform about the program actions in the country and to discuss issues about sexual and reproductive health, gender and race equity, ethnicity, population and development, youth, south-south cooperation and humanitarian assistance. All of that, of course, approached through a human rights angle.

The podcast will bring exclusive interviews with UN staff members in Brazil, specialists and guests, besides a wide range of small attractions, such as the “UNFPA Minute”, a one minute fast looking to the main news about the UNFPA’s national job.

State secretary of Women at the Federal District, Ericka Filippelli, is a guest of the first episode

The pilot episode, already available in streaming platforms, approaches the occurrence of gender-based violence in crisis scenarios or emergency contexts, such as the pandemic of COVID-19. The programme officer for Gender Equity, Race and Ethnicity of UNFPA Brazil, Rachel Quintiliano, speaks about how gender-based violence may increase during this period and what is needed to reduce it. The episode also includes the participation of the State secretary of Women at the Federal District, Ericka Filippelli, joining in to explain about the program “Jornada Zero”, an initiative developed in partnership with UNFPA to reduce domestic violence levels.

The podcast “Fala, UNFPA” has coordination of Rachel Quintiliano, production of Nathalia Cassia, Fabiane Guimarães and Diego Soares, script and presentation of Fabiane Guimarães. Edition: Diego Soares, Fábio ACM and Raquel Melo.
